Southern Saskatchewan Canoe Trips

CanoeSki Discovery Company is Saskatchewan’s premier eco-adventure travel company specializing in wilderness canoeing and cross-country skiing. Located in the City of Saskatoon, in central Saskatchewan, CanoeSki offers canoeing trips close to home and on distant northern waterways. The scenic South Saskatchewan River, flowing through Saskatoon, is one of the major southern waterways providing an ideal venue for canoe lessons and weekend canoe trips. CanoeSki also provides a canoe rental and shuttle service for the North and South Saskatchewan Rivers.

Northern Saskatchewan Canoe Trips

Beyond Saskatoon, the boreal forest contains pristine provincial and national parks offering lots of canoeing options on northern waterways. Prince Albert National Park’s placid lakes and meandering streams provide ideal venues for CanoeSki tours offering birding, nature and history experiences and tamer waters for family canoe trips. Further north, Lac La Ronge Provincial Park, in the beautiful rugged Canadian Shield, features the famous Churchill River with myriad wilderness canoe routes. CanoeSki tours exploring themes involving rock art, history, ethnobotany and Aboriginal culture follow historic voyageur routes along the river. A special women’s canoe trip, featuring music and massage, shares the Churchill River with the rest of the CanoeSki ecotour programs. We recently added an exciting new canoeing and painting trip that takes in the breath-taking boreal landscape of Lac La Ronge Park.

Navigating by Map and Compass

Canoeing on complex waterways like the Churchill River or simply travelling confidently in unfamiliar terrain requires navigational ability. CanoeSki offers a wilderness navigation course that teaches basic map and compass and orienteering skills.

5-Star Campfire Cooking

Wilderness canoe trips run on calories and the tastier the better! The extra effort in planning and preparation we devote to fueling the 21st century voyageur is reflected in the consistent rave reviews we get on our trip menus.

Celebrate Cross-Country Skiing

Frost and falling leaves dictate a stowing of the paddles in preparation for CanoeSki’s winter program. Cross-country ski lessons in Saskatoon plus cross-country skiing tours on boreal forest wilderness trails – sometimes in the company of sled dogs – provides the other seasonal component to CanoeSki Discovery Company’s program of adventure training and eco-explorations.
